It's that time of year again - Fall foliage season! Here at Balsam Woods, we have a wide variety of trees, with a lot of maple trees, which makes for a spectacular fall foliage display. The colors usually start showing up around Mid- September, and peak right around the 1st-10th of October. This year is a little behind by a couple days, but our peak should be around the 5th-10th of October. Its a great time to get out and go camping - the nights are cool, and the days are mild, and the scenery is spectacular!

July 4th Weekend
It's hard to believe 4th of July weekend has already come and gone! 4th of July weekend is always a really busy weekend for us - we usually get completely booked for this weekend sometime in January or February. We always have a lot of campers that bring their atv's with them, and it really does mark the start of the busy summer season for us! Out of all the campgrounds in Maine, we are one of the few that actually has direct access to atv trails.
This year was no different than past years- we were completely full, and extremely busy! The weather turned out to be really nice, just a shower and thunderstorm late Sunday night into Monday morning. The pool was heavily used Friday and Saturday when the weather was really warm. Overall everyone had a great time spending time camping with friends and family!

Fun in the Rain
Another weekend upon us and Mother Nature decided to give us rainy, cold weather. But at Balsam Woods, we have fun in every type of weather. People are out swimming in our pool. I know that sounds crazy but it's 80 degrees, so it's more comfortable in the pool then outside. The wagon ride just took off with a ton of kids. We'll be coloring t-shirts this afternoon. Ice cream social will still go on in the evening and of course we'll have a lot of people. Because as everyone knows, ice cream is good anytime of the day in any weather! Outdoor movie is scheduled for tonight! Then pancake breakfast tomorrow morning with blueberry or plain pancakes, sausage, coffee, tea and OJ. So even if we feel a little too wet or a little too cold, we can still see smiles peeking out from under hoods all around the campground, because camping is just too much fun for a little rain to ruin it.
